I saw this awhile ago on the Kraft site and have been dreaming of it ever since. Nanaimo Bars are popular in Canada and there is a reason for that. They are to die for! This cheesecake has to be good!

Ingredients
  • 2-1/2 cups OREO Baking Crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup flaked coconut
  • 4 pkg. (250 g each) PHILADELPHIA Brick Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. BIRD'S Custard Powder SEE NOTE
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 6 squares BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • NOTE: When I make Nanaimo Bars I use vanilla pudding powder. I don't see why you couldn't use it for this as well.

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix baking crumbs, butter, pecans and coconut.
  3. Press firmly onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking pan.
  4. Refrigerate while preparing filling.
  5. Beat cream cheese, sugar and custard powder until well blended.
  6. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition just until blended.
  7. Pour over crust.
  8. Bake 40 min. or until center is almost set. Cool.
  9. Refrigerate 3 hours or overnight.
  10. Place whipping cream and chocolate in saucepan.
  11. Cook on low heat until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring occasionally.
  12. Pour over cheesecake.
  13. Refrigerate 15 min. or until chocolate is firm.
  14. Store leftover cheesecake in refrigerator.

THAT LOOKS FANTASTIC WOW..........GREAT POST THERE

Sounds fantastic! Really good one for a covered dish dessert, too. Thanks!

I agree, looks fantastic!

I'm loving this recipe. Love the ganache topping too!

How did I miss this one. Great michelle!!

Yummy!

This recipe is reallllly good. i made it in a nine inch spring form pan, it looked reallly good and tasted even better. i made it for a dinner and had none left. i will be making like again and again ...

I have made this recipe several times and several partakers have said that they like this even better than Nainaimo Bars. I agree with them as I find Nanaimo bars too sweet also. What I really like about this recipe is that it uses Chocolate cookie crumbs and it's more tasty than using graham cracker crumbs with the mixed in melted chocolate.
I do have one comment about using vanilla pudding powder ..... DON'T DO IT! There's a reason it calls for Bird's Custard powder. I tried the pudding powder and it really didn't turn out as firm and yellow as using Bird's. I felt the taste wasn't the same either.
