Doughnuts Recipe
Through the Kitchen Door May 1968 - In sharing these recipes from the 60's I must admit that they include poems that I wanted to put here also. I hope you all like them as much as I do.

Ingredients
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour milk, mixed with
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 5 cups flour

Directions
  1. Beat the eggs and add sugar.
  2. Mix the flour with the baking powder and salt and add to the egg mixture.
  3. Add sour milk and soda.
  4. Roll out on floured board.
  5. Cut with doughnut cutter.
  6. Drop into hot fat, brown on one side, turn and brown on the other side.
  7. Drain.

Wow these sound like wonderful cake type doughnuts, I remember when we use to have these every year at Halloween with Apple Cider. YUM You have my 5 also, thank you so much for this great recipe.
