Cherry Fudge Cake

- 1 1/3 sups sifted flour shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/3 cup cocoa shopping list
- 1 teasp. baking soda shopping list
- 3/4 teasp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup soft shortening shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/2 cup Pet evaporated milk shopping list
- 1/4 cup water shopping list
- 2 TBSP. maraschino cherry syrup shopping list
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries..... cut-up shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350' F.
- grease bottom of an 8-inch square pan.
- sift flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and the salt into a 3-quart bowl
- add shortening, egg, and the evaportated milk to dry mixture
- beat 3 minutes with electric beater at medium speed
- scraping the sides of bowl often
- add water and cherry syrup and beat hard for 1 minute.
- stir in cut-up cherries
- pour into prepared pan
- bake at 350' on the center rack for 50 - 55 minutes or until cake pulls from sides of the pan
- remove from oven. let stand 10 minutes before turning out to cool
- Frost with your choice of frosting.
