Any bread that does not have yeast in the ingredients works for me.

Yikes! Where are the raisins and caraway seeds? Any true Irish Soda Bread includes raisins and caraway seeds. But, for those who dislike these, I'm sure that your version will be delicious. Hot out of the oven buttered and with a mug of tea, now that's heaven.

Top o' the mornin to you Zena and I for one do not like caraway seeds in anything!!! If I feel like raisins, then I'll add them. Your recipe looks delicious and I have bookmarked it as a most definitely MUST/WILL TRY.

I loved this bread, and so did my family. I used mostly spelt flour and about 1 cup of unbleached white flour and didn't have any buttermilk so used almond milk, it literally only took me about 5 minutes to throw this bread together, and to think about how good it is, especially the melted butter on top after. My husband would have barfed if I had put raisins in it.
Thanks so much.
