Onion Batter Bread

- 1 1/4 cups warm water shopping list
- 1 pkg active dry yeast or 1 cake compressed yeast shopping list
- 2 tbs soft shortening shopping list
- 2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 tgs sugar shopping list
- 3 cups sifted all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 envelope dehydrated onion soup mix shopping list
How to make it
- Measure water into a large bowl
- sprinkle or crumble yeast ;stir to dissolve
- add shortening,salt,sugar and 1 1/2 cups flour
- Beat 2 min at med speed on a mixer,Scrape bowl often
- Add 1 1/2 cups flour and soup mix.
- Blend with a spoon until smooth
- Cover;let rise in a warm place,free from draft,
- 30 min or unril doubled.
- stir down,beat about 25 strokes.
- spread evenly in greased 9x5x3 in pan.batter will be sticky
- cover let rise about 40 min or until dough is about 1 ins from top of the pan
- Bake 375 for 45 to 50 min
- remove from pan to wire rack
- brush top with butter
