How to make it

  • In saucepan, bring butter, milk and sugar to a boil.
  • Add vanilla and salt.
  • Cook for 1 minute.
  • Add caramels and stir until melted, about 4 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in coconut and oats.
  • Drop by heaping tablespoons onto waxed paper.
  • Let stand until set.
  • Yields approximately 3 dozen.

    This sounds quite similar to another recipe I have and the last time I made it I thought I would add coconut the next time but as mine didn't have caramels in it, I'm going to try yours.
