This is from the Martha Stewart website 2002. Scented sugars add a subtle & elegant flavor to coffee, fruit desserts, baked goods, etc. Great gift idea!!!

Ingredients
  • Granulated sugar
  • canning jars & lids
  • aromatic edibles such as scented geranium leaves, mint leaves, rose petals, citrus peel (orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, etc.), or vanilla beans.
  • NOTE: BE SURE THE PLANTS HAVE NOT BEEN SPRAYED WITH CHEMICALS!
  • If using citrus peels, first set out for a day to dry.

Directions
  1. Mix small batches.
  2. Layer granulated sugar with the aromatic edibles of your choice till jar is filled.
  3. Tightly seal the jars.
  4. Let sit for a few days while the scents infuse the sugars.
  5. One jar or a trio makes an unusual gift for someone who could use a little sweetness.
  6. Also a delicate & lovely topping for sugar cookies or piecrust for a subtle flavor!
