Decadent Pineapple Upside Down French Toast

- 1⁄4 cup unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup cream shopping list
- 1/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 15 ounce can crushed pineapple in juice (reserve 1/4 cup juice) shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 12 thick slices sourdough bread shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat over to 400.
- Melt butter over moderate heat and stir in sugar until dissolved.
- Add pineapple stirring well to incorporate.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, reserved juice, salt, cinnamon and vanilla extract.
- Lightly grease a rectangular baking dish and spread pineapple mixture evenly over bottom.
- Dip bread slices into milk mixture and arrange in one layer on top of pineapple mixture.
- Bake toast in middle of oven 20 minutes or until bread is golden.
