FLOYERES- Greek Dessert

- 3/4 c chopped walnuts shopping list
- 3/4 c chopped almonds shopping list
- 1 tsp nutmeg shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 2 c sugar shopping list
- 6 eggs (yolks and whtes separated) shopping list
- 1 lb pastry sheets (keep between 2 damp kitchen towels so they don't dry out) shopping list
- SYRUP: shopping list
- 1 lb sugar shopping list
- 2 1/2 c water shopping list
- Boil until thickened. Keep warm for dipping floyeres. shopping list
How to make it
- Beat yolks until creamy.
- Add sugar, spices and nuts and mix well.
- Beat egg whites until fluffy and fold into mixture.
- Cut all the pastry sheets at one time into quarters (keep under damp towel.)
- Use one quarter sheet for each floyera.
- Butter the pastry sheet and place one tbs of the mixture in the middle of the sheet and roll.
- Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 300 for 30 minutes.
- While still warm, quickly dip the floyeres into the syrup with a pair of tongs.
- Grasp lightly or they will break.
