Gingerbread Ladies And Gentlemen

- 12 oz all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 2 1/2 tsp ground ginger shopping list
- 4 oz unsalted butter shopping list
- 6 oz light brown sugar shopping list
- 1 egg, slightly beaten shopping list
- 4 Tbsp golden syrup or honey shopping list
- OR shopping list
- 1 Tbsp molasses (treacle) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 350F
- Sift flour, baking soda and ground ginger together in a large mixing bowl.
- Cut butter into small pieces and cut into dry mixture (using pastry blender) until you have the consistency of fine breadcrumbs.
- Add the sugar and mix.
- Mix the beaten egg and golden syrup (or honey or molasses)together.
- Add to the dry mixture, blending together to form a dough.
- Roll out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thick,.
- Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place on a lightly greased or lined baking sheet,
- Decorate and cook for approximately 10 to 15 minutes (depending upon size of cookie).
- Check the color and spread as they bake to see when your cookies are ready.
- After they are done, leave on baking sheet for a few minutes then transfer to a cooling rack and leave to cool completely.
- Finish decorating with frosting.
