Cherry Dumplings
From gardenladyzoe 15 years agoIngredients
- 2 c canned cherries, drained shopping list
- 2 1/4 c flour shopping list
- 2 1/4 tbsp butter shopping list
- 2 1/4 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 3/4 c milk shopping list
How to make it
- Drain cherries and reserve liquid. Sprinkle cherries with a little sugar and cinnamon if desired. Mix together the remaining ingredients. Roll out the dough and cut in large circles. Fill each with drained cherries, approx 2 tablespoons. Seal the edges of the dumplings, brushing with a little water first to ensure they seal well (like making fried pies). Place dumplings in a large deep baking dish. Cover with three cups of sugar and dot with about 4 tablespoons of butter. Cover with reserved liquid from the chrries and boiling water. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately one hour. Cool and serve with your favorite vanilla ice cream.
