Double Frosted Bourbon Brownies

- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/3 cup shortening shopping list
- 2 tablespoons water shopping list
- 1 (6-ounce) package semisweet chocolate morsels shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts shopping list
- 1/4 cup bourbon shopping list
- white frosting shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 2 cups sifted powdered sugar shopping list
- chocolate glaze shopping list
- 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate morsels shopping list
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine shopping list
How to make it
- Combine first 3 ingredients in a medium bowl; stir well. Set flour mixture aside.
- Combine sugar, shortening, and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Add chocolate morsels and vanilla, stirring until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, stirring after each addition. Add dry ingredients and walnuts; stir well. Spoon into a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Sprinkle bourbon evenly over warm brownies. Let cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Spread White Frosting on top of brownies. Pour warm Chocolate Glaze over frosting. Let stand until set. Cut into squares.
- White Frosting:
- Combine butter and vanilla in a large mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
- Chocolate Glaze:
- Microwave chocolate and butter in a 1-quart microwave-safe bowl at HIGH 1 1/2 minutes or until melted, stirring once.
