This is what we serve here in the south with our fried fish... Alot of places serve these as appitizers.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups plain corn meal
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large jalapeno pepper finely chopped
Directions
- Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
- drop with a large spoon into hot oil in a deep fryer.
- Cook until golden brown, turning with a long wooden spoon.
- Drain on a paper towel to get extra grease off.

Recipe sounds great; in fact, I make this recipe but with half a bell pepper and a TAM JALAPENO which is mild pepper that doesn't burn your mouth but yet you have the jalapeno taste..Also add 1 lg. can cream corn to the recipe!
