How to make it

  • Hollow the core from the raw cabbage.
  • Brown the bacon and onion.
  • Drain bacon and onion, reserve drippings.
  • Mix bacon and onion with barbecue sauce.
  • Brush drippings in the cavity and on the outside of the cabbage.
  • Salt, pepper, and garlic powder the outside to taste.
  • Fill the cavity with bacon mixture.
  • Set cabbage on an aluminum foil ring on the grill.
  • Cover the grill and let it cook about an hour.*
  • *You can parboil the cabbage ahead of time and reduce grilling time to about 25-30 minutes.
  • Peel the "charred" outer leaves. Cut into wedges (can serve up to 6 easily) and serve. Goes great with country-style ribs!
