Chocolate Cherry Cake Dessert

Here is a new twist on an old favorite. This is a perfect last-minute dessert, especially since it mostly comes out of the pantry. You can’t go wrong with cherries and chocolate!!
Ingredients
- 2 cans cherry pie filling shopping list
- 1 box yellow or white cake mix shopping list
- 1 stick margarine or butter (I prefer butter) shopping list
- ½ cup walnuts (optional) shopping list
- ½ to 1 cup chocolate chips shopping list
- 1 teaspoon almond extract shopping list
How to make it
- Combine cake mix, butter and almond extract.
- Mix as you would for pie crust.
- Add nuts (if you like them) and stir.
- Put pie filling in greased 9 x 13 pan.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the cherries.
- Then sprinkle the cake mixture on top of the cherries and chocolate.
- Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown at 350 degrees.
