Black Walnut Taffy
From crabhappychick 15 years agoIngredients
- 1 cup molasses shopping list
- 2 cups Karo syrup shopping list
- 1 cup light brown sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Cook to stiff ball just before a light crack. Take off fire & add nuts & enough baking soda to make a nice color. Keep stirring while adding nuts & baking soda. You can mix English walnuts & black walnuts together. This makes it less expensive.
- Put in greased pan & spread out & cut into pieces when cool.
- NOTE: I interpret "stiff" ball as hard ball stage. Don't you just love the "less expensive" comment?! I never use the black walnuts as I don't like them. Good with pecans and almonds or cashews, too.

My grandma had one just like this! I tried once in high school, but then lost the recipe. Thanks!
