Old Timey Mountain Chicken N Dumplings DUMPLINS

- Old Timey Mountain chicken “N’ Dumplings shopping list
- 1 whole chicken shopping list
- 2 carrots cut in to rings shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- 3 celery stalks, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- salt and black pepper shopping list
- fresh parsley shopping list

- For the dumplings: shopping list
- 2 cups of flour shopping list
- 3 tablespoons of baking powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon of salt shopping list
- 3 tablespoons of lard or shortening shopping list
- 1 egg, beaten well shopping list
- 1 cup of whole milk shopping list
How to make it
- Cut the chicken up into quarters and place in a pot and cover with water. Simmer the chicken
- until tender. When the chicken is tender, add the salt and black pepper to taste. You can leave
- the bones in or take the meat off the bone; I like to remove them myself.

- To make the dumplings:
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and the salt. Cut in the lard or shortening and mix in the
- egg and milk. Drop the dumplings by spoonfuls into the pot of chicken and broth and cook for
- 15 minutes or until the dumplings are done.
