Date Squares

- 3/4 cup of butter shopping list
- 1 cup of brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp of baking soda shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups of pastry or cake flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups of rolled oats shopping list
- Filling: shopping list
- 1 package of pitted ddates (1 to 1 1/2 cups) shopping list
- 1 cup of boiling water shopping list
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Cream butter and one cup of brown sugar.
- Combine soda, flour and rolled oats.
- Add to creamed mix.
- Press half into greased 9 inch square pan.
- Filling: Cut dates. Add brown sugar, cook until thick in boiling water about 10 minutes total time on stove top..
- Cool; spread on top of mixture in pan.
- Spoon remaining mixture on top of filling.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
- Cool, cut in squares.
- Great with ice cream (butter pecan is to die for)
