OATMEAL CAKE WITH BROILED FROSTING

- 1 cup quick cooking oats, uncooked shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup boiling water shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup Crisco shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- FROSTING: shopping list
- 6 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla shopping list
- 2/3 cup brown sugar packed shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup pecans, walnuts or your choice chopped shopping list
How to make it
- Measure oats into a mixing bowl, add boiling water, stir and cool.
- Cream both sugars, butter and shortening and butter.
- Add eggs and vanilla, beat very well.
- Sift dry ingredents in batches into the creamed mixture mixing well.
- Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 pan.
- Bake in preheated 350 degree oven.
- While cake is baking, make frosting, have ready.
- Mix frosting ingredents together and mix well.
- When cake is done spread frosting on hot cake, place under broiler for a few minutes to brown.
- Serve with a dollop of fresh whipped cream or cool whip
- Soooooooo good.
