Low Fat Wont Make You See Red Sweet and Sour

- 2 lbs chicken or pork shopping list
- 2 TBS more or less vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 Can (about 20 oz) pineapple chunks (drained) Reserve liquid (I use the chunks packed in pineapple juice not the syrup) shopping list
- ½ Cup brown sugar shopping list
- ½ Cup cider vinegar shopping list
- 2 tsp soy sauce shopping list
- 1-Clove minced garlic shopping list
- 2 TBS corn starch shopping list
- 2 TBS cold water shopping list
- 1/8 tsp fresh grated ginger shopping list
- 1 green pepper cut into ¾ inch pieces shopping list
- ½ - 1 onion cut into ¾ inch pieces shopping list
- 2 Stalks of celery sliced diagonally shopping list
- ½ Cup carrots cut into match sticks shopping list
- Everything else is optional this is a good recipe to clean out the refrigerator. shopping list

- ½ Cup all purpose flour shopping list
- vegetable oil shopping list
- ¼ Cup corn starch shopping list
- ½ Cup cold water shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
How to make it
- Breading (Optional)
- Heat oil (1 inch) to 360 degrees
- Beat flour, corn starch, water, egg and salt with a hand beater until smooth
- Add meat to batter stir until well coated
- Add meat to hot oil 1 at a time
- Fry about 20 pieces at a time until golden brown
- Turning 2-3 times (about 5 minutes)
- Drain on paper towel and keep worm
- Sauce
- Add enough water to the reserved pineapple juice to make one cup.
- Heat juice, water brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce and garlic in a medium sauce pan until boiling.
- Mix corn starch and water to a thin paste add to hot sweet and sour sauce.
- Stir with a whisk until thickened remove from heat.
- Stir Fry
- (Note) if you plan on using the breading skip this part
- Add oil to a large frying pan stir fry meet and ginger over medium high heat remove to a plate
- Using the broth left in the frying pan stir fry the vegetables with the exception of the pineapple.
- 1-2 minutes before the vegetables are done add the pineapple
- Add meet to the vegetables and cook to mix
- Add ¼ - ½ cup sweet and sour sauce to meat and vegetables mix to coat.
- Serve with rice and remaining sauce on the side.
