South Carolina Chili Dog Recipe

This is the way my family has always prepared Hog Dogs. It is the very best Dog you can eat!!!

Ingredients
  • 1 package Hebrew Nations or another kosher weiners
  • 1/2 lb lean ground beef
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Chili powder to taste (I use a lot!)
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Hot Dog Buns
  • Diced Onions (optional)

Directions
  1. In a saucepan cook ground beef until about half done. Add 3/4 cup of water, chili powder to taste and 1/4 cup ketchup.
  2. Cook until water is almost gone.
  3. Taste to make sure the chile powder and the ketchup are in the right amount for your taste.
  4. Place weiners in boiling water and cook about 5 minutes.
  5. Place weiner on bun with mustard. Add Chile and onions.
  6. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  7. You shouldn't have to add ketchup if you have put enough in the chile.

Hebrew National Hot Dogs are my FIRST choice when buying hot dogs. If I can't get those, the ONLY other brand I will buy are at the deli counter... "Boar's Head". Just like the "Hebrew National", they are clean, all high quality beef, and kosher.
I like your recipe, and am bookmarking to try.
