  • NOTE: I don't want to miss lead anyone the starter that is written down did not come with the recipe. I put these ingredients in a plastic bag and did what the recipe said and made a starter.
  • =====================================================
  • Don't use a metal spoon or bowl for mixing!!
  • Do Not Refrigerate!!
  • =====================================================
  • For Starter:
  • 1 gallon plastic bag
  • 1 cup of plain plour
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • =====================================================
  • To make the start put all ingredients in the plastic gallon bag and squeeze the bag until all is mixed.
  • =====================================================
  • If air gets in the bag, let it out! It is normal for the batter to thicken, bubble, and ferment.

Directions
  1. Day 1: This is the day for receiving the batter, do nothing. (This is also the day you can start your own batter. After mixing let it rest the rest of the day).
  2. Day 2: Squeeze the bag.
  3. Day 3: Squeeze the bag.
  4. Day 4: Squeeze the bag.
  5. Day 5: Squeeze the bag.
  6. Day 6: Add 1 cup of plain flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of milk, and squeeze the bag.
  7. Day 7: Squeeze the bag.
  8. Day 8: Squeeze the bag.
  9. Day 9: Squeeze the bag.
  10. Day 10: Combine in a large bowl, the batter and 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of milk. Mix with a wooden spoon.
  11. Pour Three 1 cup starter in gallon size zip lock bags. Keep one starter for yourself and give the other two starters to your friends along with the instructions.

  13. To the remaining batter in the bowl add the following:
  14. 1 cup oil
  15. 1 cup sugar
  16. 1 tsp of vanilla
  17. 3 large eggs
  18. 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  19. 2 tsp cinnamon
  20. 1/2 tsp of salt
  21. 2 cups of flour
  22. 1/2 cup milk
  23. 1/2 tsp baking soda
  24. 1 large box instant vanilla pudding (You also can use other flavors)
  25. Pour into 2 large, well greased, sugared and cinnamon loaf pans. You can sprinkle some extra cinnamon on top of batter. Bake at 325 for 1 hour.

  27. Optional: Add 1 cup of chopped pecans and/or 1/4 cup of raisins

Love this recipe! I added 1/2 cup of apple sauce and 1/2 cup of oil. I did try it with a banana pudding. It came out great. Thanks for the starter recipe, I have made so much bread that now I don't have to keep a starter.


I agree neldacot, 1/2 cup applesauce 1/2 cup of oil instead of the 1 cup oil makes for a very moist and delicious loaf.
