Sourdough Brownies

- 2 oz bittersweet (at least 65%) chocolate shopping list
- 1/3 cup canola oil shopping list
- ¾ cup cake flour shopping list
- ½ tsp baking soda shopping list
- ½ tsp salt shopping list
- 2/3 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- ½ cup (unfed) sourdough starter shopping list
- 2 tsp vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375F, and grease a 9" pan.
- Melt chocolate and oil in a double boiler over low heat.
- In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
- Beat together brown sugar, egg, sourdough starter and vanilla, then stir in cooled chocolate mixture.
- Stir in flour mixture until just blended.
- Spread in prepared pan.
- Bake 30 - 35 minutes, or until edge begins to pull away from pan.
- Cool completely before cutting and serving.

I tried this recipe and it did not not turn out fudge-y. It had a nice cake-y texture but a bit dry. Flavor was of bitter chocolate, not very sweet, a plus in my opinion. Used starter at 100% hydration, not sure what "unfed" means exactly. It was fed...more
