- 1/2 bushel tomatoes, peeled & quartered shopping list
- 2 green sweet peppers, chopped shopping list
- 3 hot peppers, chopped shopping list
- 3 lb. onions, chopped shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped shopping list
- 4 (18 oz.) cans tomato paste shopping list
- 1 1/2 c. sugar shopping list
- 1/2 c. canning salt shopping list
- 2 c. olive oil shopping list
- 2 tbsp. basil (sweet) shopping list
- 2 tbsp. oregano shopping list
How to make it
- Mix vegetables and cook for 3 hours.
- (Tomatoes could be cut up smaller to reduce lumps.)
- After 3 hours, add the tomato paste, sugar, canning salt, olive oil, and in a cloth bag, the basil and oregano.
- Cook 2 more hours.
- Fill hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/2 inch space from the top and process in hot water bath for 15 minutes.

Hi Lana --- your tomato sauce gets a fiver --- ten if it were possible! You mentioned it's for canning ... but will it keep in sealer bags in the freezer for awhile? Thanks 8+D

Great recipe Lana I canned a lot of tomato sauce this year. I am glad to see others can too. I had so much to process I had to freeze some too.
