Creole Shrimp

- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 1 cup oil shopping list
- 3 pounds raw peeled and deveined shrimp shopping list
- 1 large can tomato sauce shopping list
- 2 cloves chopped garlic shopping list
- 2 small cans tomato paste shopping list
- 2 cups chopped white onion shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley shopping list
- 3 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1 cup chopped celery shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper shopping list
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onion tops shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper shopping list
- 1/2 cup bell pepper shopping list
- 6 cups of water shopping list
How to make it
- Combine flour and oil and cook slightly to make a roux then add onions, celery, bell pepper and garlic and cook until soft.
- Add tomato sauce, tomato paste and remaining spices.
- Mix well and cook 5 minutes.
- Add bay leaves and 6 cups of water then simmer for 90 minutes.
- Add 3 pounds shrimp and cook for 15 minutes.
- Add parsley and onion tops and cook for 5 minutes.
- Discard bay leaves then serve hot over fluffy rice.
