Japanese Grilled Tuna

- 1 tbsp sesame oil shopping list
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 tbsp grated ginger shopping list
- 1 tbsp cracked black pepper shopping list
- 4 eight-ounce tuna steaks about 1 inch thick shopping list

- wasabi soy sauce Glaze: shopping list
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar shopping list
- 1/4 cup light soy sauce shopping list
- 4 slices fresh ginger, smashed shopping list
- 2 tsp wasabi powder shopping list
- salt shopping list
How to make it
- Combine oils, ginger, and pepper
- brush on the tuna steaks
- sprinkle with salt
- marinate for 30 minutes
- combine sugar, water, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and vinegar
- Bring to the boil on high heat, and reduce until syrupy (about 15 minutes)
- whisk in Wasabi paste
- The glaze should be used at room temperature
- grill tuna 2 minutes per side, with the lid closed for 'very rare'
- or, grill 3 to 4 minutes per side for 'medium-rare'
- Drizzle glaze over the fish
