This is my moms recipe she loves this pie..It's a custard pie that emerges from the oven with a golden brown, slightly caramelized top over a creamy center. With a tender consistency that almost melts on the palette, yummm ..you might say it's creme... More

Ingredients
- 2 -cups sugar
- 1 - teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 - teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 - teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 - tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2- cup melted butter
- 3 - large eggs
- 1 - cup buttermilk
- 1 - 9 inch pie shell... .........better yet make your own crust .............which she did but she is making it easier for you .hahaha
Directions
- In a large bowl combine the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg , vanilla, cornstarch, butter and eggs............
- beat with a mixer on low speed until well blended .......
- add the buttermilk and mix well again .....
- pour into the pie shell ......
- bake in oven on 350 degrees F. for 40 minutes or until set and lightly brown on top...........
- serves 6 - 8 ......... i hope you enjoy it .........

This looks great. There is a BQ joint here in town called Bad Brad's and they make a Buttermilk pie that I like. I want to try to make this, but use Splenda instead so that I can have it too. Of course, if I make for company I'll keep it as is. I'll let you know how the splenda variation turns out.
