Homemade Almond Bark Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup whole unblanched almonds

2 2/3 cups white chocolate chips

2 TBSP. solid vegetable shortening...( do not use butter or other shortening)

Directions

spread almond in a baking pan and toast in a 350' F oven

until just lightly browned beneath the skins .. about 8 minutes

shake the pan often ...let cool

line a rimmed 10 x 15-inch baking pan waxed paper, covering the bottom and sides of the pan

place the white chocolate chips and the shortening in the top of a double boiler over barely simmering water.

stir just until the mixture starts to melt

remove top of the double boiler from the water

stir until mixture is completely melted

stir in almonds

turn the mixture into the baking pan and spread to distribute nuts evenly to spread more smoothly, drop the pan from a height of about 8-inches. so this several times

refrigerate the candy for about 30 minutes just until firm

break into pieces

wrap and store in the refrigerator

makes about 1 1/4 pounds of candy
