Ingredients
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • Place these in a bowl and mix well in an electric mixer. Take out 1/2 cup of this mixture to use for the topping. In the bowl with the remaining mixture in it, add the following and mix until all dry ingredients are moistened:
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • For the topping, add the following to the 1/2 cup of reserved mix:
  • 5 oz. crushed Heath bars (roughly 1/4 inch square pieces)
  • 1/4 chopped pecans
  • Pour the batter into prepared baking dish and spread until even. Sprinkle the topping over the batter evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Slice into bars and serve

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch Pyrex® baking dish.
  2. Makes about 32 bars.

Heath Bars are my downfall. Isn't it fun to scrape the chocolate off with your front teeth, then chomp down on the toffee? Yummy!
