Ingredients
  • 4 Eggs,beaten
  • 1-1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs(2 Slices)
  • 1(8oz) Water Chestnuts,drained and finely chopped
  • 1(8oz) Bamboo Shoots,drained and finely chopped
  • 1-1/2 Cups Green Onions with tops,finely chopped
  • 3 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Crystallized Ginger,finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Pounds Lean Ground Pork Shoulder
  • Cornstarch
  • For the Sweet and Sour Sauce:
  • 2 Cups Orange Juice
  • 1-1/2 Cups Beef Broth
  • 1 Cup Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 2/3 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons ,finely chopped Crystallized Ginger.
  • Bring all sauce mixture to boil,combine 1/3 cup cornstarch and 1 Cup of water ,stir into sauce and cook ,stirring until thickened and bubbly.

Directions
  1. For Chinese Meat Balls:
  2. In bowl combine egg,bread crumbs,water chestnuts,bamboo shoots,green onion,soy sauce,ginger,and salt.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Add pork and mix well.
  5. Chill for 1 hour.
  6. Shape into 1" balls.roll in cornstarch.
  7. Cook a few at a time in a deep hot oil(375 degrees) for about 2 minutes or until browned.
  8. Serve warm in Sweet and Sour Sauce.

Mmmmm I could make these and keep them warm in the crock pot while serving. Good recipe.


Yummm! I can make this gluten free by using gluten free soy sauce, and toasting my own gluten free bread and toasting it for the bread crumbs. I think I will try this very soon.
