This is an authentic real old fashioned lemonade recipe. The recipe is a lemon concentrate to which you had cold water or soda and ice before serving. Better than any lemonade you can buy. Great on a hot summer day.

Ingredients
  • 8 large lemons
  • 1 3/4 cup white sugar OR 1 1/2 cup of splenda (for a sugarless version)
  • 1 3/4 cup water
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Lemon slices for garnish, when serving
  • Yields: 4 cups of lemon concentrate

Directions
  1. Directions to make the lemon concentrate.
  2. Finely grate the rind of 2 lemons.
  3. In a saucepan (avoid aluminium pan because of the reaction with the citric acid), on the stovetop, combine the grated lemon rind, sugar, water and salt. Bring to a boil and let it boil for 5 minutes while stirring occasionally. Take off the stove and let the mixture cool slightly.
  4. In the meantime, press the juice of all the 8 lemons, then add the lemon juice to the cooled mixture and stir. Let it cool completely.
  5. Keep this lemon concentrate in the fridge up to 3 weeks.
  6. For serving - dilute a 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of concentrate in 3/4 to 1 cup of cold water or in a soda water. Add ice and lemon slices before serving.
  7. Enjoy!
