Middle Eastern Cake

- 100 g halwa - chopped coarsely and shopping list
- 20 g halwa - chopped finely shopping list
- 1 C raw sugar shopping list
- 3 tbsp brown sugar shopping list
- 250 g soft butter shopping list
- lemon and orange zest shopping list
- 4 L egg yolks shopping list
- ..... shopping list
- 1 C semolina shopping list
- 1 C wheat / atta flour shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves shopping list
- 4 tsp baking pwd shopping list
- ..... shopping list
- 150 ml milk shopping list
- 500 g walnuts shopping list
- 3 tbsp ground almonds shopping list
- ................... shopping list
- 1 C sugar shopping list
- 1 C water shopping list
- 1 tbsp orange food colour water shopping list
- .................. shopping list
- icing sugar ( optional ) shopping list
How to make it
- Pre heat oven at 190 deg C .
- Coat the cake tin with the 20 g fine halwa .
- Beat the sugar , soft butter and the zest until thick and pale .
- Add the egg yolks in and beat well .
- .....
- In a separate bowl mix all the dry ing.
- Add to the butter with milk
- Now add in the nuts and halwa
- Mix well .
- Bake 50 mins .
- Cool for 10 mins .
- ....................
- Boil the sugar and water for 5 mins
- Add the orange colour in .
- Pour over cake .
- Sprinkle icing sugar on top ( optional ) .
