Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cook vegetables in simmering water until crisp-tender. Cook chicken strips in a separate pan in oil, using salt and pepper to season. When chicken is cooked, add 2 cups water, the sugar and soy sauce. Mix until sugar is dissolved. After both chicken and vegetables are cooked, drain vegetables and transfer them to the chicken and soy sauce mixture. Bring to a boil, then simmer. Take 1/2 cup water, add flour and stir until flour is dissolved. Add to the simmering chicken and vegetable mixture. Simmer and stir occasionally for 5-10 minutes. Serve over rice.

This recipe was so good. My husband raved about it, even said it was better than going to a chinese restaurant. It's really that good!
I fried everything in peanut oil. I used some pre-cut fresh 'asian stir fry' veggies, instead of what was called for in the recipe, which I fried separately from the chicken and sauce. I added in some soy sauce, and put them over rice, which I then topped with the chicken and sauce. Amazing! Definitely going into my regular rotation of meals. :-)

Good stuff! I changed up my veggies, Instead of broccoli, carrots, and zucchini I used onion and red, yellow, and green pepper. For a little heat I added crushed red pepper flakes. Great post. I will make this again.

This looks really yummy. Made me hungry for lunch already. I wonder how hard it would be to cut down to a couple of servings? Might try it today.

My Husband and I loved it.. however my kids wouldn't eat the veggies with the sauce on them. I will have to just keep them some steamed veggies out sep. next time. :0)

This was great! I omitted the celery, but everything else I made according to the recipe and my eight year old loved it too. :)
