From chihuahua 16 years agoIngredients
- 3 small apples, Granny Smith, cored, chopped (sometimes I just use two) shopping list
- 2 medium pears, cored, chopped (I like to use three) shopping list
- 1/4 cup raisins (I throw in a couple extra) shopping list
- 3 (generous) Tbsp. fresh lemon juice shopping list
- 2 1/2 tsp. lemon zest (extra is ok too) shopping list
- 1/2 cup unpacked brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice shopping list
- 1/2 cup Old-Fashioned oats (I like to use organic) shopping list
- 1/4 cup Almomds, ground (I prefer slivered almonds for the extra crunchiness) shopping list
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, sifted shopping list
- 2 Tbs. reduced-calorie margarine shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Coat a 6-cup casserole dish with cooking spray.
- Arrange apples, pears, raisins, lemon juice and zest (in layers) on the bottom of prepared casserole dish.
- Combine sugar and allspice in a small bowl; sprinkle evenly over fruit.
- Combine oats, almonds and flour in same bowl; rub in margarine using fingertips. Sprinkle the topping evenly over fruit mixture.
- Bake until fruit is tender, about 25 to 32 minutes.
- Cut into 6 pieces.
- Best served warm.
- After dessert cools, I scoop out any excess liquid. Cover and refrigerate.
