Ingredients
  • 3 small Apples, Granny Smith, cored, chopped (sometimes I just use two)
  • 2 medium Pears, cored, chopped (I like to use three)
  • 1/4 cup Raisins (I throw in a couple extra)
  • 3 (generous) Tbsp. fresh Lemon Juice
  • 2 1/2 tsp. Lemon zest (extra is ok too)
  • 1/2 cup unpacked Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground Allspice
  • 1/2 cup Old-Fashioned Oats (I like to use organic)
  • 1/4 cup Almomds, ground (I prefer slivered almonds for the extra crunchiness)
  • 1/3 cup All-Purpose Flour, sifted
  • 2 Tbs. reduced-calorie Margarine

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Coat a 6-cup casserole dish with cooking spray.
  3. Arrange apples, pears, raisins, lemon juice and zest (in layers) on the bottom of prepared casserole dish.
  4. Combine sugar and allspice in a small bowl; sprinkle evenly over fruit.
  5. Combine oats, almonds and flour in same bowl; rub in margarine using fingertips. Sprinkle the topping evenly over fruit mixture.
  6. Bake until fruit is tender, about 25 to 32 minutes.
  7. Cut into 6 pieces.
  8. Best served warm.
  9. After dessert cools, I scoop out any excess liquid. Cover and refrigerate.
