Filojos Portuguese donuts

- 2 cups warm milk shopping list
- 5 cups flour, sifted shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 4 eggs, well beaten shopping list
- 2 packages dry yeast shopping list
- 1/4 cup warm water shopping list
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest shopping list
How to make it
- dessolve yeast in warm water
- place all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix with electric mixer
- when batter is climbing up the beaters stop mixing ( another one of Vovoa's interesting directions)
- make sure that all of the flour is mixed in.
- cover and let stand in a warm place for 30 minutes
- drop by table spoonfuls into a deep fryer set on high
- turn the do-nuts once before removing
- when browned on both sides remove and drain off excess oil
- shake do-nuts in a bag with 1 cup of sugar enjoy
- you can also shake them in a bag of cinnamon and sugar or powder sugar
