Ingredients

How to make it

  • You will have to determine how flavorful you would like your dressing and I usually just do by taste not measurements.
  • Cut the upper top off of the round bread, like you are making a cap for it.
  • Using a sharp knife, hollow out the bread and cut that into chunks for eating with the salad.
  • Brush inside of bread and top of cap with olive oil and place under the broiler for 7-10 minutes until just beginning to get brown.
  • Mix all dressing ingredients together and toss with the tomatoes and mozzarella.
  • Pour the tomatoes into the bread bowl and garnish with the bread lid and a sprig of fresh basil.
  • The bread will absorb the vinagarette flavors and it is fun with a group to just break bread together while enjoying the wonderful flavors.

I love Insalata Caprese, and serving it in a bread bowl would give me one more excuse to eat too much of it. Thanks for sharing! - Natalie
