of my Mother ~ she baked it for our Family during
WWII when supplies were controlled and you had to SAVE your "Ration Chips" for Sugar and such, to be able to bake a 'cake' !

I have a very similar recipe I used to make a lot (when I made a lot of cakes). It's different, but I think it tastes wonderful! I never have put frosting on mine but I bet it's great with the cream cheese frosting.
