These are very festive looking cookies on a platter.They do melt in your mouth.

Ingredients
- 1c butter,softened
- 1/2c confectioners sugar
- 1/2tsp peppermint extract
- 11/4c flour
- 1/2c cornstarch
- Frosting:
- 2Tbs butter,softened
- 11/2c confectioners sugar
- 2Tbs milk
- 1/4tsp peppermint extract
- 2 to 3 drops red food coloring,optional
- 1/2c crushed peppermint candies
Directions
- In small mixing bowl,cream butter,and confectioners sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in extract. Combine flour and cornstarch;gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
- Shape into 1" balls. Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 for 10-12 mins or intil bottoms are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
- In small mixing bowl, beat butter till fluffy. Add confectioners sugar,milk,extract and food coloring if desired;beat till smooth. Spread over cooled cookies;sprinkle with crushed candies. Store in airtight container.
