Ingredients

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 cup margarine, softened

1 tsp vanilla

2 eggs

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp cream of tartar

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

2 Tbsp sugar

2 tsp cinnamon

Variation (chocolate):

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa can be substituted for 1/2 cup flour

Directions

In large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Blend flour, cream of tartar baking soda and salt into creamed mixture. Combine 2 Tbsp sugar and cinnamon. Shape dough into 1inch balls; roll balls in sugar cinnamon mixture. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. (Chocolate cookies should be baked at 400 degrees for 6-9 minutes.)

i used 4 tbsp of sugar instead of 2 because that's how i remember the cinnamon sugar ratio.
