Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees f. grease and flour 2 9 inch - round cake pans
  • for cake ................
  • combine flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt in a small bowl
  • beat granulated sugar and butter in largemixer bowl until creamy
  • add eggs; beat for 2 minutes
  • beat in pumpkin , evaporated milk, water and vanilla.
  • gradually beat in flour mixture
  • spread evenly into prepared pans
  • bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until a wooden pick comes out clean when inserted in center.........
  • cool in pans on a wire rack for 15 minutes , then remove to wire racks to cool completely........
  • ***********************************
  • for maple frosting
  • beat cream cheese and powdered sugar in a larger mixer bowl until fluffy add maple flavoring , mix well..........
  • ********************************************
  • to assemble cake ;....................
  • cut each layer in half horizontally , with a long , serrated knife
  • frost between each layer and on top od cake leaving sides unfrosted
  • garnish as desired
  • when making 2 layer cake frost sides and top and inbetween
  • 12 servings

    If I baked cakes Tink, I'd bake this one for sure. Would definitely eat it, if someone were to serve it. Looks great!

    Hi Mini! I have heard about this cake many times before,but have never tried it,though the recipe sounds incredible! I saved it in my favorites.
    I'm SSSOOO excited-my hubby just gave me my early xmas gift this past weekend(a Kitchen Aid stand mixer)and I am in heaven trying out new recipes with my new toy.(It only took 15 years of begging for it-hee hee)
