Braised Beef Short Ribs Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 pounds meaty cut up beef short ribs
  • 1 to 2 tbsps olive oil
  • 2 coarsely chopped celery stalks
  • 1 coarsely chopped carrot
  • 1 chopped large onion
  • 3-4 chopped plum tomatoes
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
  • or 1 tsp dried rosemar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions
  1. Season ribs with garlic powder and pepper
  2. Heat oil in large Dutch oven pot
  3. Add ribs
  4. Cook until browned and remove
  5. Add celery, carrot, onion, garlic and tomato
  6. Cook till tender
  7. Add wine, vinegar, broth, rosemary and bay leaf
  8. Return ribs to pan
  9. Cover and heat to boiling
  10. Cook on low heat till ribs are tender (about 4 hours)
  11. Or cook in 325 oven for 6 hours
  12. For thicken sauce
  13. Remove ribs and keep warm
  14. Mix flour and water and add to pan juices
  15. Cook and stir till boiling and thickens
  16. Serve with ribs

Made this a few months ago, and found the red wine overtook the sauce, but the next day it had mellowed and was the best beef I have had in a long time. I was looking for the recipe again today to make tomorrow on another site and couldn't find it, then I remembered where it was. So yes this is wonderfully good and in the making a second time around.


Probably will subsitute the wine but otherwise wonderful recipe thanks high5
