How to make it

  • Cream butter and sugar, then add egg and molasses and beat well.
  • Add dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Roll 1/8 inch thick on slightly floured surface.
  • Cut into desired shapes.
  • Bake on slightly greased cookie sheet for 10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.
  • My notes: I have trouble handling this dough to roll it out—it always seems a little sticky. I roll it into logs, wrap with wax paper and chill in the freezer, then slice and bake.
  • For holiday cookies, use shaped cookie cutters and decorate with colored sugar or as desired. Use your imagination.
