Ingredients
  • 2 large racks pork baby back ribs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh white onion
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1-3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon whiskey
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika

Directions
  1. Wrap ribs in foil then arrange on a cookie sheet for baking in the oven.
  2. To make ribs cut each large rack of ribs in half so that you have 4 half racks.
  3. Sprinkle with salt and pepper over top and bottom of each rack.
  4. Wrap ribs in aluminum foil and bake in a preheated 300 oven for 2-1/2 hours.
  5. As ribs cook make sauce by heating oil in medium saucepan over medium high heat.
  6. Sauté onions 5 minutes or until they start to brown.
  7. Add remaining ingredients and bring mixture to boil.
  8. Reduce heat and simmer 1-1/4 hours uncovered or until sauce thickens.
  9. Remove from heat and set aside until ribs are ready then preheat grill.
  10. When ribs are finished in oven meat should have pull back about 1/2" from cut ends of bones.
  11. Remove ribs from oven then allow to sit 10 minutes then remove from foil and put on grill.
  12. Grill ribs 4 minutes per side then brush sauce all over ribs and cook 2 minutes more then serve.

Great post, love ribs. You have my 5

I was looking for a great ribs recipe! Thanks!

I do this slow baking process too. It really makes incredibly tender ribs. I like bourbon or a sweet-sour barbecue sauce and keep extra sauce warm to smear on them.

Now I'm getting hungry!

Fantastic!

This sounds really goood!

Mmmmmmm.....finger lickin' good for sure!!

These were wonderful! The sauce was yummy. I only made 1 rack of ribs but made all of the sauce for extra dipping ;o) I did add a bit more sugar and honey cause I like it sweet. Everyone has to try this recipe!!

Yummmy!
