How to make it

  • Make the crust by mixing the flour,salt and baking powder with the shortening.Cut in the water,tossing with fork.Place in baking dish.
  • Make filling by melting chocolate in the water and sugar.
  • Bring sauce to boil,stirring constantly.
  • Add butter and vanilla.
  • Make the batter by mixing the flour,sugar,baking powder and salt.
  • Add shortening,milk and vanilla.
  • Beat,add egg,beat batter about 2 minutes longer.
  • Pour batter over crust,then pour chocolate sauce over batter layer,slowly.
  • Sprinkle with 1 Cup of chopped Walnuts.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 55 to 60 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Beat the topping ingredients together until fluffly.
  • Top the pie with the whipped topping and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
