Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 eggs, beaten; of course freah is best so I found a place to buy them on a farm
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, I use raw sugar
  • 1/2 cup safflower oil, any oil will do, the closer to the source you can get the better
  • 1 cup raw honey, i get this delievered, but I bet you could find it at a farmers market

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Grease and flour a 9x13 baking pan.
  3. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, stirring well.
  4. Pour into pan, and bake for 45 minutes.
  5. About 30 minutes in I open the ove and sprinkle just a touch of raw sugar on top to give it a finished look.
  6. Finish cooking it.
  7. Serve unfrosted.

  11. If cut into twelve equal pieces, each piece has approximately 270 calories.

  13. I had at one time cresent moon shaped cake pans. I had 13 of them. My origianl recipe fit perfect into these. Lost those too in the van. They too were my Grandmothers, I have no idea where to find replacements. sigh

Family recipes are so important and I am so tickled that you are working on this and chose to share it with us. I have some family recipes like that, too - we keep trying to make it match our memories of it when grandma was alive and wowing the crowd with her great recipes. We keep getting closer and closer.
