How to make it

  • In a large bowl, cream the shortening, butter , and sugar.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Beat in the extracts.
  • Combine the flour, lavender, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well
  • Drop rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto baking sheets lightly coated with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Bake 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes ( per batch ) or until golden.
  • Cool for 2 minutes before removing to cooling racks.
  • Store in airtight containers.

    As soon as I read "Lavender cookies" my mind was racing for "girls" occasions to serve them. Do you use off-the-stem lavender or dried candied lavendar flowers? I grow both lavender and rosemary along my driveway but never thought to use the lavender to cook with.
