Lavender Cookies Recipe
This is such a lovely cookie that it can be served as a Bride's cookie at her reception or shower.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup crisco shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1-1/4 cups fine sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon very good vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2-1/4 cups all- purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons excellent quality lavender flowers
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. In a large bowl, cream the shortening, butter , and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Beat in the extracts.
  4. Combine the flour, lavender, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well
  5. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto baking sheets lightly coated with non-stick cooking spray.
  6. Bake 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes ( per batch ) or until golden.
  7. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to cooling racks.
  8. Store in airtight containers.

As soon as I read "Lavender cookies" my mind was racing for "girls" occasions to serve them. Do you use off-the-stem lavender or dried candied lavendar flowers? I grow both lavender and rosemary along my driveway but never thought to use the lavender to cook with.


This sounds really good....


I always like finding new recipes to use lavender in, and these sound really good! I'll have to try them out!
