It's a very popular snack in kerala state.It's made by using ripe plantains(nendra pazham or kerala banana's)it is simple&delicious.....great tea time snack...

Ingredients
  • Ripe plantain(nendra pazham)-1(sliced lenghthwise)
  • Oil for deep frying
  • All-purpose flr 1C
  • sugar 1/2C (Depends on the sweetness)
  • Rice flr 2tsp (for crispness)
  • Baking soda 1/2tsp
  • Pinch of cardamom powder
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • Pinch of salt

Directions
  1. Mix the ingredients from(flr to salt....
  2. By adding little water to form a thick batter...
  3. Heat the oil
  4. Dip the plantain pieces one by one into the batter&deep fry both sides till golden brown
  5. Drain the excess oil on a paper towel
  6. serve it hot with tea...

Dis is one of my fave .... the rice flour is a new twist for me : )


Looks intriguing, definitely going to try it. Is it possible to substitute for the all purpose flour (for wheat free) - say an oat or spelt flour instead? Do you think it would change the recipe?
