I forgot - if you use pears substitute the almond extract for the vanilla - it is out of this world good. You can also add sliced almonds to it as well.

Thanks, I can't take the credit for the recipe my Mom found it in a newspaper ages ago. She changed it up with the pears and almond extract combo and that is a real winner in the fall.

The base sounds similar to a "platz" recipe that I make and got from my Mom. It has a crumble topping over the fruit. This sounds unique and very tasty. Thanks for the post.
