Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lbs imitation crab or lobster meat ( pollack/whitefish, crab flavor etc ) I used Aquamar brand
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbs finely minced onion
  • 1/2 red green bell pepper finely chopped
  • 2 Tbs fresh dill weed
  • 1 large garlic clove finely minced
  • 3 Tbs mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp ocean blend spice or seafood spice
  • jiuce from a whole fresh lemon
  • 1 tsp worchestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup dried breadcrumbs ( plain )
  • Coating :
  • 1 cup cornflour ( not cornmeal ) as needed
  • Garnish: fresh dill and lemon wedges
  • oil to fry
  • Wasabi ( horseradish ) sauce: Mix all and chill
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp wasabi powder or paste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • squirt of fresh lemon juice to taste

Directions
  1. In a food processor finely mince the onion, dill, bell pepper and garlic together.
  2. Place in large bowl.
  3. Place imitation seafood intro processor and process till fine flakes mixed in with some coarse pieces
  4. Place in bowl with the minced veges.
  5. Add eggs, spices, lemon juice, worchestershire sauce and mix very well together.
  6. Mixture should still be moist for hand shaping.
  7. Form into one inch or so thick patties.
  8. I got 9 large ones
  9. Coat both sides of fish cakes in cornflour
  10. Fry in hot oil turning when golden brown on each side
  11. As you fry them, place finished patties on a paper lined baking tray and place in oven at 200F to keep warm
  12. Serve with wasabi , tarter or cocktail sauce on the side or just plain wedges of fresh lemon
