Mother In Law Rolls
From debzy 15 years agoIngredients
- 2 cups warm water shopping list
- 2 pkg yeast shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 6 cups flour shopping list
- 2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
How to make it
- Stir together the warm water, yeast and sugar, set aside.
- Sift the flour and salt together, set aside
- Cream the shortening and egg until fluffy
- Add the water mixture to the egg mixture and then add the flour mixture until combined
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, 3 to 5 minutes - either by hand or in a stand mixer with a kneading hook
- Put in an un-greased bowl, grease the top of the dough only, you can do this by spraying with Pam
- Cover with a damp cloth and put in the refrigerator
- Use when desired, by pinching off enough to form a ball about 1/2 the size of your fist - just make as many as you need at the time
- Allow to rise for about 2 hours
- Bake at 400 degrees for 1- to 15 minutes until golden
- **I think the dough will last about 5 days in the refrigerator...but we've never not used it that long!

Yes, I believe I have that recipe from back in the 70's...sooooo good, and way too convenient! You are so right, debzy, in that the dough never lasts 5 days in the fridge...more like 5 minutes!! Hot bread from the oven - delish...Krum
